Overview:
The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Southeast Asia hosted the Architecture Student Awards 2024, a global design competition for senior architecture students (4th or 5th year) from accredited programs within AIA regions. The competition aimed to recognize excellence in architectural design, particularly focusing on local climatic-based solutions.

Competition Theme & Challenge:
"LOCAL CLIMATIC-BASED DESIGN ELEMENTS FOR INNOVATIVE AND CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE."

Judging Criteria:
Entries were evaluated on design ideation, innovation, climatic responsiveness, cultural inclusiveness, technical competency, conservation and adaptation, and presentation quality.

Awards:
The winner received the AIA Southeast Asia Honor Award, which included a trophy, certificate, publication exposure on the AIA Southeast Asia website and prominent architectural publications, and a monetary prize (TBA).

Jury:
A distinguished panel of experts, including Yew Kee Cheong, FAIA, MSIA (Chairperson), Professor Erik G. L’Heureux, FAIA, Yolanda Reyes, Hon. FAIA, FUAP, Kate Schwennsen, FAIA, and Hoanh Tran, Intl. Assoc. AIA, judged the entries.
